MK1 Cortina GT 500
1965
1498cc Kent Pre-Crossflow
4 speed close ratio gear set
A customer brought it to my smash repair business in 1998. It was stripped to bare metal, repaired and painted inside & out. It was then trailered home to be finished. I phoned the owner in 2006 to see if he had finished the Cortina, no he had lost interest and would I be interested in buying it. We did a deal and was sold to me, 12 months later it was finished. I then started tracking its history.
This particular car was built by the Ford Works Teams, Harry Firth. It was the display car built for the Melbourne Motor Show then shown in dealers around the country. It has a Lynx alloy rocker cover, Lynx side draft inlet manifold, Webber 45 DCOE carb, Lynx air cleaner, exterior 2 piece front bar, sports mirror, ivy green rear beaver, no fuel filler hole and rally alloy wheels.
I have fitted new loop pile carpet in Palimino to match the trim.
Try to use it more as I enjoy driving it.
